Daeodon comedentis is the largest known species of Entelodont, an omnivorous family of ancient mammals that are sometimes referred to as "Hell Pigs." Even though Daeodon has as many similarities to modern Hippopotamidae equally it does to Suina, I've found that to exist a suitable nickname. Daeodon is as mean equally it looks, and whatever survivor who wanders likewise close will find that out the hard way. As an omnivore with a voracious appetite, Daeodon scavenges, forages, and hunts to survive. It has niggling qualms when it comes to its nutrition, and that has helped it thrive on the Isle's harsh tundra. Its atmosphere hasn't hurt either, as many would be predators would rather seek out less roughshod casualty.

Domesticated

Many tribes have made splendid use of Daeodon packs within their state of war parties, not but because of its fierce nature, but due to its extraordinary power to speedily heal itself. I've theorized that this healing gene is why it seems to accept such a loftier metabolism, though what is particularly extraordinary is its capability to share this benefit with nearby creatures. I have even heard some survivors mention that the Daeodon also has a unique ability to root out Rare Mushrooms likewise!

Behavior [ ]

Travelers of the Ark will typically notice Daeodon travelling in packs, devouring anything and everything that gets within sight. One time combat is initiated one or sometimes all of the pack volition produce a pheromone effect to buff the health regeneration of friendly creatures. This, boosted by the other wild Daeodon's passive health boost, tin make a pack of these creatures a very mortiferous opponent. It does appear all the same, if a traveler happens upon a lonely Daeodon, at least upon the traveler hitting the creature, it volition run from the fight rather than stick around. The Daeodon is very useful after Boss Arenas to heal your tames, but will swallow a very large quantity of food to do then.

Appearance [ ]

Daeodon is a big mammal with hunched shoulders and cloven hooves. It has a massive head and long jaws with fearsome tusk like front teeth for tearing both meat and plant thing and rows of molars at the back of the mouth for grinding. With its massive size and nightmarish teeth, it is like shooting fish in a barrel to forget this animal is office of the pig family.

Color Scheme and Regions [ ]

This section displays the Daeodon's natural colors and regions. For demonstration, the regions below are colored red over an albino Daeodon. The colored squares shown underneath each region's description are the colors that the Daeodon will randomly spawn with to provide an overall range of its natural color scheme. Hover your cursor over a color to brandish its proper noun and ID.

This information tin be used to alter the Daeodon'southward regions past entering cheat SetTargetDinoColor <ColorRegion> <ColorID> in the cheat console. For instance, cheat SetTargetDinoColor 0 6 would colour the Daeodon's "underside" magenta.

Wild Stats Level-up

Type in values of a wild creature to run into on which stats information technology'south emphasized. Green values on a high-level creature are very expert for breeding. If yous take already tamed your creature you lot can try to recover the breeding stats with an external tool.[ane]

Daeodon

The stat-estimator does not work in the mobile-view, run into hither for alternatives: Apps

Note that after the creature is tamed it gets bonuses on some stats depending on the taming effectiveness. This makes it hard to retrieve the levels on a tamed creature, then this tool is only for wild ones, but gives a first impression, how well the stats are distributed.

Gainsay [ ]

Full general [ ]

Daeodon very rarely travel alone. Groups typically consist of 2-4 individuals with an equal ratio of male to females, making the mate vitrify a very realistic threat to the survivor. In addition, it is a common sight to see half of the group being a college level than the other half (i.e. Level sixty male and a Level 10 female).

The winter tundra contains large, and frequently deadly prey such as  Mammoth. This means that Daeodon will often take advantage of their healing abilities to soak up damage in club to stay live.

Take these key points into consideration when tackling any Daeodon.

Strategy [ ]

Ensure yous annotation the total number of Daeodons in a group before attacking, likewise as any other threats that may be lingering nearby (e.thou.  Direwolf).

If attempting to kill, simply stand on a high position and shoot at it, or use a bola to go on it still and assail it with a sword or pike.

When fighting a grouping of Daeodon, exist sure to kill the weaker ones commencement in club to reduce the efficiency of the healing buff. This will ultimately make fighting against the higher levels a lot easier.

Weaponry [ ]

Use shields if attempting to assail it with melee weapons, while crossbows can be used for long range, aiming for its lower jaw counts as a headshot.

Dangers [ ]

As they often appear in groups, the player can be very apace overwhelmed. Furthermore, a larger group ways a larger mate and healing buff, resulting in a very quick and inescapable death.

These creatures are also capable of fast speeds.

Weakness [ ]

Long range attacks render the Daeodon harmless, specially if they are lonely.

Taming [ ]

For general info about domesticating a wild brute see Taming.

KO Strategy [ ]

The Daeodon is an aggressive creature; continue your distance when shooting, Longneck or crossbow is preferred. It can be grabbed by an Argentavis then 1 histrion can grab it while the other one at the ground shoots information technology. If playing solo, trap it inside a small-scale firm with the assistance of an Argentavis or using ramps. It cannot fit through doors so you can stand exterior while shooting it safely.

Using a single bola will also give you lot enough fourth dimension to bring it downwards if shot in the head (aim right below the mentum)

Similar to the Argentavis, Daeodon's rapid healing ability consumes lots of nutrient, meaning that players tin can offset feeding it immediately if they render it unconscious while information technology is in the eye of using this power, as its food meter will be depleted considerably. Go on in mind, however, that the Daeodon has an enormous ambition. If you use mutton, it will require much more of it than other creatures typically practice, so be certain y'all accept plenty. It is advised to use lots of Raw Mutton and Preserving Table salt when applicable to ensure the best possible taming effectiveness and time. It should also be noted that Daeodons accept relatively quick torpor drain, so be certain to come up equipped appropriately.

Taming Food [ ]

Annotation that the values are for optimal cases, always bring extra supplies!
For a level-dependent count of resources needed, endeavor an external taming calculator.

Ingredients for  Superior Kibble: 2 × Citronal, 1 × Prime Meat Jerky, 1 × Large Egg, 5 × Cobweb, 2 × Rare Mushroom, 1 × Sap,  H2o

Utility [ ]

Roles [ ]

  • Mail-raid healing: The Daeodon can exist used to apace and easily heal your dinos afterward a boss fight, allowing yous to so raid again. (Level Health and Food) The Daeodon's Passive Healing ability will -when turned on- automatically cause the Daeodon to kickoff its healing ability when an injured and allied dino enters its range. When the allied dino is healed, the Daeodon will stop healing once more. (Note: There are reports of this power non working properly)

While healing, the Daeodon's food level will quickly drain; be certain to bring it well stocked with food to eat. Proceed in listen that the corporeality of dinos being healed by the Daeodon has a straight impact on the amount of food tuckered - healing many dinos at once can lead to thousands of food level draining every few seconds. Information technology might be useful to behave some cheap kibble (such as dodo) because information technology provides more than nutrient and can exist force-fed without cooldown, unlike meat.

Later on a boss fight, this is particularly helpful to bring dinos dorsum from the brink of decease.

The Daeodon recovers food differently than other carnivores. The following table shows its unique food values:

Type Value
 Raw Fish Meat v
 Raw Meat x
 Cooked Fish Meat 12.v
 Cooked Meat
 Cooked Meat Jerky
 Raw Prime Fish Meat
 Cooked Prime Fish Meat
25
 Raw Prime Meat
 Cooked Prime Meat
 Raw Mutton
 Cooked Lamb Chop
l
 Kibble* (Superior, Exceptional, Extraordinary) 85
 Kibble* (Basic, Unproblematic, Regular) 96

*Kibble has no feeding cooldown, so unabridged stacks tin can be strength-fed in a few seconds

The amount of healing gained per tick of the Daeodon's healing aura is directly linked to the maximum health of the dino existence healed. Higher HP dinos volition heal more HP per tick.

The daeadon heals at a charge per unit of (target dino'south max health)*(0.005) hp/sec. Minimum 10 and max 300 for players; minimum 20 and max 400 for dinos; up to 30 dinos inside a range of 2500 units.[2]

  • Raid healer: Its AOE pulsating Heal makes information technology valuable for healing your dinos during a raid on a base! (Level Health and Food) (Needs confirmation, daeodon healing should not affair at all in a raid, information technology is rather used for post-fight healing.[3] ) If you want to give it Food faster apply prime number meat or kibble.
  • Feces Producer: While in active healing mode Daeodon produces a large amount of feces in a curt amount of time. Perfect for those who need a large amount of feces to compost into fertilizer. (Though a good kibble subcontract should produce more than than plenty byproduct to employ with dung beetles...)
  • Cactus Sap Collector: The Daeodon seems to be a perfect animal to harvest Cactus Sap on Scorched World. It can only harvest sap from the low, red-flowered cactus bushes, non the tall saguaro cactus copse.

Notes/Trivia [ ]

For information pertaining specifically to the real-globe Daeodon, see the relevant Wikipedia commodity.

  • Dino Dossier revealed on 10/04/2016.[four]
  • The dossier says that Daeodon has equally many similarities to modern Hippopotamidae equally it does to Suina, this judgement refers to how many people phone call this creature "Hell Pig" even though they're a whole different animate being, but withal closely related to pigs and hippos; both are members of artiodactyl (even-toed ungulate).
  • Although there was mention of multiple Daeodons receiving a pack bonus to their healing aura, at that place does non currently seem to be any benefit to multiple Daeodons healing at in one case.
  • The dossier lists Daeodon as an Omnivore, but equally of v257 the Daeodon volition but eat meat. All berries and crops provide no food value. In add-on, Raw Meat provides only 10 nutrient value upon consumption (merely cooked meat provides information technology 25 nutrient value), nowadays the dossier lists information technology as Carnivore.
  • The Daeodon has a unlike scale of foods every bit the rest of carnivores. The club of food value from worst to best: Raw Fish Meat 5; Raw Meat 10; Cooked Fish Meat 12.v; Cooked Meat, Cooked Prime Fish Meat and Cooked Meat Hasty 25; Cooked Prime Meat, Cooked Lamb Chop and Prime Meat Hasty fifty; Superior, Exceptional and extraordinary  Kibble 85; and basic, simple, regular  Kibble 96.
  • There is a problems with the Daeodon's healing ability that causes it to constantly heal even when there's nix to heal. If information technology ever occurs, just remove its nutrient source and let it starve. Once it reaches zero the ability should finish and you can then requite its food back. Until the bug is patched up, it is highly brash to NEVER use it. Otherwise you'll have a lot of food wasted. This tin exist countered if the daeodon has a saddle, as one tin jump on and turn off the healing manually. Disabling passive healing may as well fix this bug.
  • On ARK: Survival Evolved Mobile, the  Eerie Daeodon can only be plant in the Dungeons. For use on The Island, it must be killed and revived in order to tame it.
  • Species proper noun means "Eater Dreadful Teeth", that explained its enormous appetite.
